Worlds Largest Peach

The Gaffney Peach If you’ve every traveled down I-85 through South Carolina you probably seen this famous peach. The city of Gaffney, near Greenville, built this water tower in the shape of a peach back in 1981.

Over 10,000,000 pounds of concrete and a mile and half of welds were required to construct this monster peach. The leaf on top is 60′ long by 17′ wide and weighs nearly 7 tons. The water tank can hold over a million gallons of water.

The biggest complaint aside from all the rubber necking traffic is that the peach looks like a giant orange butt as you’re driving by even though it has a stem, leaf, and nipple. Now they just need to add a bit of fuzz and it’ll be complete
