Top 10 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes and Crafts
Yesterday, we brought you 10 of the best Halloween Cooking ideas. And while it’s true cooking is one of our top 50 most popular hobbies, crafting is even higher up on the list, coming in at lucky number 25. Remember: it’s never too late to do some last-minute gluing, painting and sewing.
In honor of Halloween and our crafty hobbyists, we’ve searched through dozens of websites to bring you some of our very favorite simple Halloween crafts. Enjoy.
This paper bag pumpkin couldn’t be easier. All you need is a paper bag, some painting supplies, and a bit of raffia. Since it is last minute, if you don’t have the latter, improvise by cutting up small pieces of paper and painting them green.
The ghost is a last-minute classic, of course, so all you really need is a white sheet and a black marker. But we like the looks of this easy Halloween ghost, which uses a styrofoam ball. If you don’t have a stryrofoam ball on hand, use whatever round object you can find in the house.
3. Clip-on Bats
These clip-on bats are not only easy–they look great too! All you need is some craft paper, scissors, glue, and a few clothespins. If you don’t have clothespins, improvise by using old sandwich ties, or simply rest the bats on a table.
If the clip-on bats aren’t quite doing it for you, you might want to try these bats made from leftover yogurt cups. As the website says, leftover yogurt cups can also be used to make pumpkin heads, witch heads, etc. A great way to use what you already have on hand!
These are great because they can be used as part of a Halloween costume or as a decoration. If you have time to make several, try hanging them from a window ledge or around the edge of your kitchen table to create a simple & spooky decoration.
6. Last-Minute Halloween Costumes for Kids (Lego, Monkey, and more)
These are our favorite last-minute kid costume ideas because they’re both easy and they look great. Our favorite is the lego, which is made from a cardboard box and food containers. Simple, but effective.
7. Fast and Simple Costumes: (Artist, Autumn, Biker, plus more)
This link features several last-minute costume ideas. Not the most creative and crafty, but they’re perfect for last-minute ideas.
Pipe-cleaner spiders are a classic last-minute Halloween decoration. We particularly like the looks of this red big-eyed spider.
An excellent, simple last-minute costume for kids, made out of a grocery bag. If you have painting skills, you can try painting something else on the bag, like a ghost or a pumpkin.
10. Creepy Cloth
This one might be our favorite for it’s simplicity and sheer awesomeness. While thin fabric is best, any old shredded cloth will do if you’re really rushed.
