My Ride in a Twin Turbo Mustang Cobra
Everybody always dreams of owning an exotic sports car, but do they have any clue what they’re capable of? I recently got the opportunity to take a ride in my buddy’s Twin Turbo Mustang Cobra. It had just come off the dyno and was putting out 650HP. With a tank of race gas and a quick change to the computer it was capable of 750+ HP. This thing was a beast.
The only car I could compare it to was an 2003 Mustang Cobra. That car had a modified pulley to produce a load of more horsepower via the stock supercharger. If I remember correctly it was putting out around 400HP. This car was certainly impressive but nothing compared to the twin turbo.
We hopped in and started her up. Sounded like any Cobra I’ve ever heard. A nice deep throaty rumble any car owner would love to call their own. We rolled out of the neighborhood onto a rural street. Putting plenty of distance between us and the next car and it was on. As he put the pedal to the floor it felt like a regular ol’ mustang. Then the turbos got spooled up.
Almost instantly I was pushed back into my seat. What happened next I can hardly describe. It sounded like the space shuttle was blasting off inside the cabin of the car. The acceleration was only slightly more impressive than the noise that this beast produced. Once a turbo produces a given pressure, in this case 20 PSI, the waste gate opens up and the extra pressure is vented. In a matter of a couple seconds we were going upward of 100 mph when he shut it down.
My buddy looked over and says “No one gets out of this car without a smile on their face.” “Add me to the list!” I said.
Hopefully this video will help you understand exactly what I tried to explain. It’s one of the most impressive things I’ve ever experienced.

That’s what I’m talking about! I want to start doing some luxury car reviews on my blog too!
Dude, that is totally BA man! My bro used to have a talon that he got up to over 300 hp, and when he hit the gas on that thing you’d fly to the back of your seat. It’s a great feeling
I’ve got a 300hp Volvo wagon and it’s pretty fun whoopin up on cars that don’t expect a wagon to delivery that much power. This Mustang was in a league of its own. Have you ever heard the stories about not being able to grab a $100 bill off the dash board while accelerating? I think this was one of those cars
